Welcome to the Friends of Baddesley Common

'Friends of Baddesley Common' is an organisation set up by local residents with the consent of the landowners to encourage and enable environmental improvements to Baddesley Common for the benefit of all who wish to lawfully enjoy the site. Baddesley Common is located to the east of Baddesley Ensor, nr. Atherstone, Warwickshire.

Black Path Completion

On Saturday 10th June 2017 the 'Black Path' Project was finally completed by Friends of Baddesley Common.  A 'hard' path now follows the route of the old mineral rail line across the Common from New Street to the Folly woodland.  Thanks to TARMAC (Mancetter) for the stone and to all the volunteers for their help.


Grand Opening of Village Pond

The official opening of the pond was carried out on Saturday 2nd April 2016 by Lady Cylla Dugdale. The interpretive board designed and painted by local artist Sian James was also unveiled. Refreshments were served and the event was well attended by the local community. title text

Current Aims

1. To re-establish the Black Path and improve pedestrian access.

2. To restore and maintain existing ponds and the new village pond.

3. To restore heathland and grassland by the selective control and removal of scrub, bramble and bracken whilst maintaining biodiversity across the entire site. 

4. To ensure the ongoing stewardship of the Common for future generations.

5. To research and document the history of the site.
